I've been budgeting envelope-style for years and kept hitting the same wall with existing apps: they want a subscription. So I built my own.

It's called YABA: Yet Another Budget App (Yes a little tongue in cheek), and it's close enough to done that I want real people using it before it goes to the App Store. It’s iOS only (for now) so it will only work if you have an iPhone.

Everything stays on your device. No account, no login, no server. Your budget is a database file on your phone. Only you have access to the data. Backups are a file you control.

So I never liked connecting my accounts with 3rd party things, partly for the privacy and partly for staying connected to what’s happening with my spending and things just appearing.

Getting transactions in without linking a bank. This is the part I spent the most time on:
    •    A Shortcut that pulls your Apple Wallet transactions straight into the app
    •    CSV import from whatever your bank exports
    •    Merchant rules that learn from how you've categorized before, so the same coffee shop stops asking after a couple of times

Import always shows an editable preview before anything is committed.

What's in it: zero-based envelopes with rollover, multiple accounts, proper credit card handling (spending on a card moves money into a payment envelope, YNAB-style), split transactions, reconciliation, recurring transactions, reports with spending against your 3-month average, and CSV export so you're never locked in.

Looking for about 25 testers. I'm capping the TestFlight link at 25 so it stays a size I can actually respond to.

What I'm hoping for: bring your own real transactions, run an actual month, and tell me where it confused you. Import, categorization, and credit card handling are the three areas I most want eyes on. Since nothing leaves your phone, I genuinely can't see what breaks — you'll have to tell me.

What it doesn't do, so nobody's surprised:
    •    No bank sync. On purpose, but it does mean some manual entry.
    •    No sync between devices yet. Each device keeps its own budget.
    •    iOS 26 and up. A Mac version and iPad version is in progress.

I’m holding the first batch to 25 people to get a smaller scale of users (this is my first time).
