So, basically, according to the people there, just existing online is a sin itself and they frown upon on it, and apparently it only applies to women.

I often see posts in Pakistani subreddits, pointing out the hypocrisy in our society, how the society slut shames women but doesn't bat an eye when it's men doing it, you must have too right? Liberal or not, conservative or centrist, most of us dislike the double standards in our society.

Our religion has stated the same punishment for men and women for most of the sins which can be committed by them both, so I always assumed that it's just our society having this bias right?

What about this then? People in these Islamic subs are doing the same, the bias is very clear in the 3rd slide like my question could not have been clearer when I asked if it's wrong for women to post themselves covered and for the purpose of earning but according to them, women simply cannot exist online, can't be taken a picture of, if their job requires one then they must refuse it or leave it, they just cannot be seen... Then I hear about how the purpose of hijab isn't to be invisible but rather modesty, why this then?

According to many people there, it’s even considered a sin for a woman who literally wears niqab to post Islamic content, while it’s perfectly fine for a man to do whatever he wants as long as his awrah isn’t exposed. If religious people genuinely believe this, then of course there will be double standards in our society. This must be where it all originated from and how it eventually got worse to the point we stopped blaming men at all.

I'm just having a hard time digesting this...Is this really what Islam tells us to do?

Can someone please explain this to me?
