Starting my own interior firm — looking for some guidance
Hi everyone,
I recently started my own interior design firm, and honestly, getting the first few clients has been harder than I expected. Since we’re new, I understand that people naturally feel more comfortable going with firms that already have a name and a lot of projects to show. I’m still trying to build that trust and prove what we can do. For now, I’m putting in a lot of effort into finding projects, meeting people, building connections and learning from every opportunity I get. Whatever project we take up, I’m trying to give my best with the knowledge and experience I have. And because we’re at the stage where building our name and client trust is the main priority, we’re keeping our approach practical and our pricing reasonable. There’s really no point in trying to charge extra just because it’s a business — right now, a happy client, a good project and a strong relationship are much more valuable to us.
I know it takes time to build something from zero, but I’m genuinely trying to make it work and build the company step by step.
If anyone here is also starting out or has gone through this stage, I’d love to hear how you got your first few clients and built trust. Even a small piece of advice or connection can make a big difference when you’re starting out.
