why is reddit so difficult to use?

i was just banned from the r/college subreddit for making a comment giving someone advice. i asked why and i was muted by the moderator with no answer. is this a usual thing on reddit? i read the rules before making my comment and though it was fine. i just find this website unprofessional because i never had that type of instance of no communication or explanation.
