Male Au Pair here

I’m seeing a lot of posts asking about the possibility of male au pairs and how they get a family etc.

I want to let you know that it is 100% possible. I was an Au Pair to a wonderful family in the US who had a 1 year old little girl and 3 year old little boy.

I was involved in everything. from morning wake up, breakfast, activities, preschool run, lunches, outings, dinners, bath time and bedtime. mom and dad worked really hours so I was basically always on the clock. A sacrifice I willingly made because I wanted baby/toddler aged children.

I wasnt expected to do a lot of ‘male’ activities as I see many of you post here - in fact it was quite the opposite. I was treated like their previous au pairs who was a female. I had to do the kids laundry, clean up after them, cook for them, discipline them, etc.

I’m very extroverted and the parents were very introverted so we didnt really get along great, but they were always working which meant I was with the kids 99% of the time. I loved the kids and the experience. I might do it again.

Point is being a male au pair, while harder to find that perfect family, is possible. trust me when I say to take time and interview interview interview. The family you’re looking DOES exist. it’s just a matter of time.
