Would you pay for a monthly caregiving service for your parents in India if you live abroad?

Ask NRI

I’m exploring a business idea and would really appreciate honest feedback from people who are NRI/expats or have parents living in India.

The idea is a monthly subscription-based caregiving service for elderly parents whose sons/daughters live abroad.

The basic problem I’m trying to solve:

When you live in another country, it can be difficult to manage your parents’ day-to-day needs, health appointments, emergencies, household issues, and other situations from thousands of kilometres away.

The service would act as a trusted local support system for the family.

I’m thinking about offering 5 main categories of service:

  1. 🏥 Healthcare support – doctor appointments, hospital visits, medical coordination, medicine reminders/delivery, etc.

  2. 🚨 Emergency assistance – someone locally available to respond when there is an urgent situation.

  3. 🏠 Home & daily-life support – help coordinating repairs, maintenance, bills, household needs, etc.

  4. 🚗 Appointment & transportation support – accompanying parents to hospitals, clinics, tests, banks, government offices, etc.

  5. 👨‍👩‍👧 Regular check-ins & family updates – scheduled visits/check-ins and keeping the children abroad informed about their parents’ wellbeing.

The idea would be to have different monthly subscription plans, depending on how much support the family needs, rather than charging separately for every small task.

I’m still at the idea-validation stage, so I’d genuinely like to hear the good AND bad.

For those living abroad with parents in India:

- Would you actually pay for something like this?

- What would make you trust such a service?

- What would be your biggest concern?

- Would you prefer a monthly subscription or pay-per-service?

- What services would you want that I haven’t mentioned?

- Roughly how much would you consider reasonable per month?

Please be brutally honest. I’m trying to understand whether this solves a real problem before building it.
