Should I re tape the pipe going into the wall when changing a shower head

I just replaced a shower head. I noticed I could twist the pipe going into the wall a bit and was wondering if I should unscrew it all the way, put new teflon tape on it, and then put it back in. The pipe has a slight downward bend to it, so I assume when you install it you get it as tight as you can by hand, and if necessary back it off so the bend point downward. I'm just wonder if it might leak behind the wall where I can't see it. Or maybe just leave it alone?
