Hereditary (2018)

Movie Review

watched Hereditary again yesterday and i think i appreciated it way more this time.

The first time i watched it, I was so focused on the shocking stuff that I didn’t really pay attention to how miserable the family feels from the very beginning. Everyone is already falling apart before the supernatural stuff even becomes obvious.

Toni Collette is still insane in this movie. Some of her scenes are genuinely uncomfortable to watch because they feel less like a horror performance and more like watching someone actually lose control.

What got me on the rewatch was how much of the movie feels wrong even when nothing is happening. The background details, the little things you notice around the house, the sound, the way certain scenes are framed. It feels like the movie is constantly telling you something is coming without actually telling you what.

I already knew what was going to happen and somehow that made it worse, not better.
