If you use frontier models for development, you know how fast a single session can eat through rate limits or API credits when you make the main model write every single boilerplate line.

I set up an orchestration system in OpenCode called Super-Agent that pairs the $20 Codex plan (OpenAI) with the $10 OpenCode Go plan ($30/mo total). It delivers autonomous, full-stack desktop apps and complex scripts with almost zero token waste.

(Check the attached screenshots: built a custom multi-city live desktop weather widget from scratch with a single prompt. It cost only \~12% of a single 5-hour OpenAI window and \~10% of OpenCode Go). -> complete task took lest than one hour and used luna when it detected that DeepSeek was not responding due to the down time. Agent used was GPT 5.6 Sol on high as the main Super-Agent.

The Cost & Role Architecture ($30/mo Total)

Instead of letting an expensive model do grunt work, the setup separates roles into strict tiers:

The Brain / PM (OpenAI $20 Codex Plan): Uses GPT-5.6 Sol or Astra. It handles high-level system architecture, scopes requirements, assigns file ownership, writes contracts, and performs the final acceptance check. It never writes basic boilerplate.

The Bulk Workers ($0 / OpenCode Free Tier): A roster of unmetered models (dev-nemotron-ultra, dev-mimo, dev-ling, dev-muse) handles bounded coding tasks, parsing, and small scripts in parallel chunks (up to 3 at once).

The QA & Continuation Team ($10 OpenCode Go Plan):

qa-deepseek (DeepSeek v4.1 Flash): Gates every single pull request/deliverable independently before merging.

dev-deepseek: A fast metered continuation worker that automatically takes over if a free worker stalls or hits a wall.

luna-escalation (GPT-5.6 Luna): Handles tough edge-case failures or sensitive data.

The Secret Sauce:

How It Doesn't Get Stuck

≤5-Minute Chunking: The PM breaks every feature into discrete, non-overlapping tasks that take under 5 minutes to implement.

The 5-Minute Watchdog (watchdog-stop.ps1): Free models can hang or get stuck in loops. The PM launches a background PowerShell watchdog with every dispatch. If a subagent hasn't returned within 5 minutes, the script hits /session/{id}/abort on the local OpenCode server, freezes the partial state, and hands it off to dev-deepseek to finish. No zombie sessions, no manual babysitting.

Strict Privacy & Delegation Gates: PII, local keys, and raw private files are kept strictly in the PM context; free-tier agents only see sanitized schemas and synthetic fixtures.

Independent QA Verification: A subagent cannot declare its own work "done." QA must run real checks and return a structured QA: PASS or QA: FAIL with file and line evidence.

Download the Complete Skills Pack

I packaged the entire migration pack—including all 13 skills (super-agent-team-ops, parallel-free-fanout, luna-sanitized-delegation, agent-delivery-playbook, the watchdog script, docs handlers, etc.)—into a single .md file:

Quick Setup

Just give any free agent from opencode the .MD file and ask to install it.
