What is the "best" Combat suit I should farm towards?

I was watching some videos about the nuances of all the armors, and I can't tell which ones are the "best" in slot.

I understand bullet resistance has diminishing returns beyond a certain point, and that movement speed penalties are more detrimental than that little tankiness is worth.

I only see the 3 Combat suit trees, 1 of which is mutant-specific, so I can disregard that one, but I'm trying to figure out which barter tree to invest in. Scientist is easy because it's just the Saturn, and I assume the Combo tree isn't worth it late-game, so I'm trying to correctly invest in Combat suits.
