Is the prophecy of Armageddon just a veiled threat of what Christianity would allow in order to control the world?

I know Christianity is a broad brush. I just meant it in a way of what Christians and churches would justify/ignore if they thought that it was all "gods plan"?

Is the prophecy just a veiled promise?
