If it were you…
My goal is to eventually get into real estate photography full-time. I know it’s going to take some time to build up a solid client base, so I’ve been thinking about reinstating my real estate license and working as a transaction coordinator or real estate assistant in the meantime. I think it would be a great way to also promote myself with connections at my brokerage.
I’ve also recently upgraded my computer to handle more intensive photo editing. I have a used Tokina wide-angle lens arriving in a couple of days, and I’m currently working with a Canon Rebel T3i. I know it’s old, but we all have to start somewhere. 😅
I also have an Insta360 X3 and have been considering adding video to the mix. I’m potentially interested in starting with Matterport tours as well — are those still worth getting into?
My questions:
If it were you, how would you supplement your income with your real estate license while building your photography business on the side?
I’m trying to be strategic about the transition and would love to hear what others have done while building their business.
How would you start building your portfolio?
My wide-angle lens is almost here, and honestly, I’m not sure where to start when it comes to finding properties to photograph. I don’t really want to jump into lead generation or start approaching agents before I’m more comfortable with my camera and editing.
Any other ideas for supplementing income in the meantime?
My goal is to be able to hit the ground running once I’m ready to start taking on paying clients. I just want to make sure I’m spending my time and money strategically and building the right skills along the way.
I’d really appreciate any advice - thank you!!
