Wait...wasn't the main thing about this update an improved Siri finally coming? And I'm on a waitlist?

I thought the new Siri finally being ready was the main selling point of this update. My Siri is still the same, and I went in to settings to see the new version is still a beta and I have to be on a waiting list? What's going on?
