What sustainability actually looks like for us as a small skincare brand
Sustainability is a word that gets thrown around a lot in beauty, so we wanted to share what it actually means at The Golden Secrets. We’re a small, self-funded skincare brand, so we can’t do everything perfectly, but from the beginning, we’ve tried to make choices that leave the planet a little better than we found it.
Since 2019, we’ve donated 1% to Farmer’s Footprint, an organization dedicated to supporting regenerative agriculture and restoring the health of our soil, our communities, and the planet. We also plant a tree with every order through Tree-Nation (over 52,000+ so far), manufacture and fulfill our products from a 100% solar-powered facility in California, and offer carbon-neutral shipping that offsets 100% of the emissions associated with your order.
Packaging is another place where we try to make more conscious choices. Our products are packaged in glass bottles, and we use FSC-certified paper packaging, meaning the paper comes from responsibly managed forests and other responsible sources. We’re intentional about choosing materials that help reduce our environmental impact while still protecting the integrity of our products.
For us, sustainability isn’t a marketing campaign or something we started doing once the brand became profitable. It’s been part of how we’ve built The Golden Secrets from the beginning… even when we were very small. We believe taking care of your skin shouldn’t come at the expense of the planet. We’re always learning, improving, and looking for ways to do better.
We would love to hear what sustainability practices you actually look for from the beauty brands you support.
