How to survive boring day shifts

Tricks and Hacks

When I first got hired at my new place I said I was a weekday night bartender. Well now I’m scheduled the opening shifts every single day. The first four hours of me existing there, there is quite literally nothing to do. I will do my daily cleaning task and the nights cleaning task along with cleaning other things I see. Last weekend I was scrubbing the floors like Cinderella. Even then, I am bored out of my damn mind. The only time I get business at the bar is the last two hours of my shift, during happy hour.

I’ve tried asking the managers if it’s even worth having a bartender here to basically sit around and do nothing but they said it’s not worth the risk of it potentially getting busy. I’ve only seen it get busy a few times out of the six months I’ve worked here and it’s usually due to poor planning around large parties.

What do yall do to pass the time? I hate mornings anyways, I am a night owl at heart, and now I just sit and twiddle my thumbs for my entire shift. Not sure how management would feel about me reading a book but that’s all I can think about doing. IM SUFFERING.
