Will 3ed Party Straps Need SDCard Slots or Loose SDCard access?

Looking at the videos, the SDCard slot is on the strap that disconnects from the core unit so if a 3ed party strap does not include an SDCard slot then it looks like that means you loose the slot. Is that what you guys are seeing? I know it is early and there are no 3ed party straps yet but my assumption as been that the detachable faceplate would attach to third party straps. Is that right or is there another connection point that I'm not tracking?
