I need a bag that I can carry my 14 inch MacBook pro in and also use occasionally. My son has brain cancer and the bag will be going with me during treatment days.

I had to stop working due to my health (i also had breast cancer and some other issues) and his. There's too many appointments to manage. So I don't want a work bag. It's kind of a sore spot that that part of my life is likely over. I write, always have, and my husband encourages me to focus on that instead so I don't lose everything I am as a person to cancers.

The bag should be under 700. It's going to get knocked around a lot in a chaotic environment and I don't want to freak out about it getting messed up by buying something terribly expensive. I bought this pretty madewell suede but when it's fully loaded I have too much pain. I think it gives you an idea of what I'm looking for.

I need to carry a water bottle (l currently use theLARS NYSØM Stainless Steel Insulated Water Bottle 25oz Metal Water Bottle because it's pretty), phone, battery pack, a b6 and an a5 sized notebook, pens, and a wallet. I love a purse with built in organization.

Things I looked at and rejected:

Cuyana forma. The fact that it can transform and expand when I need it is a huge plus. However, it's entirely too heavy. (3.6 lbs empty)

Kaai midi pyramid in green. I love the design but reads too business.

Songmont large drippy tote. My brain thinks suede is fine at 200, but not above 500 for this use case.

Laptop backpack. I have one, I like it for travel but it's not a me 2 or 3 times every week type of bag.

I don't particularly like heavy labeled bags. Don't care if it's IYKYK coded. I love things with some softness or visual/artistic interest. Like the le tanneur emile double flap is one I'm considering. It reminds me of an old folio which is kind of fun.

I've also considered a messenger bag (songmont, coach?) i would prefer to avoid black since that was my standard office wear. I gravitate to richer colors (petrol blue, eggplant, olive).

Any suggestions ? Thank you so much
