3rd-year medical student drowning in debt — I just need some help to stay in school.
Hi everyone. I honestly don't know where else to turn, so I'm taking the courage to post this.
I'm currently a 3rd-year Doctor of Medicine student . I've made it this far, but financially, I'm reaching a point where I don't know if I can continue.
My government scholarship was temporarily suspended after I had to repeat two subjects. I've already passed those subjects and was promoted to 3rd year, and my scholarship is currently being processed for reinstatement. The problem is that while waiting, I've had to pay my tuition out of pocket, and I ended up borrowing money just to stay enrolled.
My family has helped me as much as they could, but they can no longer support me financially. I'm now drowning in debt while trying to keep up with medical school expenses.
I don't want to give up after making it this far. Becoming a doctor has been my dream, and I genuinely want to finish and eventually serve communities that need healthcare the most.
I'm not asking anyone to solve everything for me. I just need help getting through this difficult period. If anyone knows of scholarships, educational assistance programs, organizations, foundations, or individuals who help medical students in financial need, I would be incredibly grateful if you could point me in the right direction.
Even sharing this post or giving me information about where I can seek help would already mean a lot.
Thank you for reading my story. I'm just trying my best not to give up on my dream.
