I think I sold more with this Offer trick

Two things:

1. Along with all of you, I'm trying to crack the code on converting watchers into buyers.
2. I always try to look through the lens of a buyer. Ironically, I'm also an ebay buyer so I always think to myself What would sell me on an item?

My margins are thin on most items. Because of this, the message I put in a 5% offer to a watcher the other week was "Thank you for your interest. I won't be going lower." Boom .... 2 hours later, the watcher accepted the offer.

I didn't say I can't go lower ... because the buyer would immediately think "well, of course you can go lower you moron!" I put my foot down and said I won't ... meaning there's no room to haggle, now or ever.

I tried this trick on two other offers and it worked for one. So I converted 2 of 3 offers sent with this message - on items that have sat for years. Maybe it's a coincidence. Maybe it works better on unique items with no competition.
