Electrician said our panel and wiring put us at big risk for a house fire
Should I take this as fact, or is he just trying to get our business? Felt like he was playing to my emotions a little bit. We had him out to look at 1 breaker that wouldn't flip back on, and he ended up recommending we replace the entire panel and remediate the wiring in our outlets and switches. The total would be almost 20k. 😬
Some background, we have a pushmatic 100 amp box from when the house was built in '79. There is some rust and corrosion as well as hot spots on his thermal imaging. We have aluminum wiring which I gather is also not good. The breaker in the kitchen flips pretty regularly, and our porchlight randomly stops working for months at a time. A lot of our outlets have always felt sort of loose, the plus fall out pretty easily. Other than that we don't have any other issues with the electricity. Thanks for your input.
