Title: 19M — I’m trying to get better at socializing and make some genuine friends
I’m 19M, and honestly, I’ve always struggled with socializing.
I’m not someone who hates people or wants to be alone. It’s actually the opposite — I really want friends, conversations, and genuine connections, but I often don’t know how to make them happen.
I tend to overthink almost everything. Before talking to someone, I might think about what to say, whether I’ll sound awkward, whether they’ll find me boring, or whether they even want me around. Sometimes I’ll want to approach someone and then convince myself not to.
I’ve also struggled with social anxiety, low confidence, comparing myself to other people, and being scared of rejection or being judged. Because of that, I’ve spent a lot of time keeping to myself.
The weird part is that I actually want to become more social. I want to be able to walk up to someone, start a conversation without analyzing every word, make friends naturally, joke around, hang out, and just feel comfortable around people.
I’m trying to work on myself instead of accepting this as “just my personality.”
So I’m posting this because I’d genuinely like to meet people who are also trying to socialize, make friends, or simply want someone to talk to.
I’m open to online friendships, and if we happen to live somewhere nearby, maybe even meeting someday after getting comfortable.
A little about me: I’m into self-improvement, psychology, fitness, career/learning stuff, and random deep conversations. But honestly, I’m happy talking about almost anything.
If you’re also looking for genuine friends and not just a one-day “hey” conversation, feel free to comment or DM me.
Maybe we can both get a little less awkward together. 😅
