Experiences/advice from moms
I have a 1yo and and another on the way, I’m applying right now to start summer 2027 or Jan 2028 (hoping to get school done while they’re young and won’t remember me being less present). I have a few questions for you moms with littles who are currently in or done with CRNA school.
- Did you bring up kids during your interviews? If so, how did you approach it?
- I haven’t even interviewed anywhere yet so I don’t know what my exact options are but my dilemma is: do I stay local where we own a house, have minimal family support but an amazing community/neighbors, my husband has a flexible job, but the local school sends me out of state for 4 months of clinicals at a time? Or do we move my family out of state where we know no one, but the school keeps you local for clinicals. Idk if it’s just a me problem not wanting to be away for 4 months straight, or if that’s justified and could affect my kids greatly.
- My husband is an engineer and loves his job but knows and is willing to take a step back from work for a couple years while I’m in school. What experiences do you guys have with you husbands working during school?
- This is more of a general question but the local school also has a reputation for requiring a lot of self-teaching and the professors are not stellar, but board pass rates are great. Are all CRNA school heavily self-taught?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts and advice!
