If I was gifted money on a gacha game would it be permissible/halal to use it for a character?

Hi all, I have a question about gacha games and maysir/qimar (gambling)

I’ve never spent money on a game, but a friend recently gifted me in-game currency they bought with real money, knowing I was saving for a specific character. I didn’t ask them to buy it or anything and it’s non refundable/non tradeable.

The character system is chance-based: you can get the character early, but otherwise you’re guaranteed a high-rarity character after a certain number of pulls, and if it isn’t the one you wanted, the next one is guaranteed to be them.

Would using the gifted currency be considered gambling, even though I personally didn’t spend or risk any money? What do I do in this case?
