Dates in Escape Rooms

I have been working as a game master at PanIQ West Hollywood for over a year now and by far the most common type of booking I see are dates. It’s not super surprising but what is surprising is the degree of success these dates have. It is actually quite fascinating to see couples either get closer or, for lack of a better term, start showing some communication issues. The ones that are most of a gamble are first dates. For me, this is like a high risk high reward setting for a first date. It can show you how compatible you are your date are, one way or another. It does tend to get a little awkward if they did not have a great time and a game master is doing his best to sort of salvage the experience but they just want to leave. On the other hand, I have seen first dates go very, very well, with some even doing unplanned second or even third escape rooms after the fact. I think the ideal range for an escape room is probably past the third date, when you are past getting to know major details of your dates life and have a clearer idea of your dynamic. Also, if you have been in a relationship for a long time and feel like you do the same kind of dates, an escape room date can really refresh that aspect of a relationship.

Do you have any stories about dates in escape rooms?
