Am I going crazy or was episode 5... a little weak?

I've been loving the show so far, and found the first 4 episodes to be incredibly mature and intelligent, especially for a superhero project (episode 3, I have a few gripes in terms of dialogue and tone, but otherwise loved how it reinterpreted the mythos to explore social commentary)

But something about episode 5 really urked me; I feel it might be a pacing thing, but the emotional beats and dialogue just felt like jarringly less subtle and melodramatic (and not in a fun, pulpy way), and the execution of the plot felt really half-baked? Like Jon giving up the ring, which maybe could have been an interesting emotional moment for the show, just feels so unearned and emotional unfuffilling

Idk, after seeing a lot of praise and hype for this episode, it just felt underwhelming, and I feel like I'm going bananas.
