10 month old - bedtime false starts

My 10-month-old has suddenly started false-starting at bedtime and I’m so confused! He’s basically never done this, at least not since the newborn days, but now it’s happened two nights in a row.

Two nights he woke up about 40 min after bedtime hysterical - I gave it 7 min and went in since it seemed off for him. I held him and he immediately went back to sleep. Last night he had TWO false starts. 😭 The first time he put himself back to sleep within about 5 min, and the second time he cried for only a minute or so and went back to sleep.

He’s normally a great sleeper and typically sleeps through the night, so this is really unusual for him. We’re on two naps with roughly 3/3.5/4 wake windows and about 2.5 hours of total daytime sleep.

Has anyone had false starts suddenly appear around 10 months after never dealing with them before? Wondering if this could be overtiredness/undertiredness, teething, developmental, or just a random phase. Would love to hear what worked for you!
