is even attempting to found a community on this platform dead?

Discussion

ok i know that its been over 6 years since the 2010s, and that it takes a lot more effort to become a content creator now than 10 years ago due to everyone wanting to be a youtuber, but i really feel like that old youtube community aspect has faded away completely. modern day youtube is split up into so many niches and small little intricate communities, i feel as if its impossible to be discovered and have a large community of people who genuinely enjoy the content for who you are rather than solely for what you do...

i've always strived to be one of those creators like markiplier and dantdm, as i used to watch them as a kid and always yearned to have the community they did. i feel if i try to make content in any form no matter the niche for even a few years straight i wouldnt even amass a small community, just because of how oversaturated the youtube space is nowadays.

do you feel this way? am i just impatient? maybe i misunderstand what old youtubers actually did? do i just not know what to do for content? do you miss the older youtube, or do you think youtube has evolved into something much better than what it used to be?
