For those who have traveled a lot around Europe: what city was that place for you?

Discussion

I feel like after you’ve been to enough European cities especially Western Europe, you start noticing the formula 😂 Pretty buildings, old town, church, museum, palace, cute cafe, repeat.

And I’m not saying that as a bad thing because I obviously love it. But eventually, some places start blending together a little.

So I’m curious what city in Europe felt uniquely special to you? Not the most beautiful or the most famous, but the one that had a feeling you haven’t really found anywhere else.

For me, it was Vienna.
Something about Vienna felt so romantic and old world to me. The imperial buildings, grand cafes, Mozart, palaces, museums, the Habsburg history, Sissi, the Waltz, and a really strong intellectual atmosphere

It had this very specific romantic bourgeois feeling that I always associated more with Paris.

And then I happened to visit a bunch of the places from Before Sunrise, which made it even more special. There was something really cute about walking around Vienna, seeing these places from the movie, and basically just chasing the sunset and wandering around.

It felt less like I was checking off sights and more like I was temporarily living inside a little movie.

Do you have a city in Europe that just speaks to you?
