What are your thoughts on meeting guys in bars/pubs?

21f here, I don’t know where to meet people and I was thinking about meeting guys at bars or pubs.

A bit of context: I have never gotten romantic attention or have anyone show me signs of attraction until about a year ago after I lost around 20lbs and started to improve myself (I was a bit depressed at the time) and my self image is still stuck at that stage so my self esteem is a bit on the lower side. Which is why I am a bit reluctant to meet people via college or hobby groups because I feel like its a guessing game and I am bad at signals and have no idea when someone is attracted to me. (I typically think guys don’t want me and that I’m being arrogant if I think they are attracted to me when they aren’t completely direct, but after talking to a few friends there have been people that I completely dismissed accidentally). I thought bars might make it easier since there’s less of a buildup and guys would be more inclined to directly approach you.

So I was wondering what everyone’s thoughts are regarding meeting people in bars/pubs? Any experiences? Literally any and all advice would be appreciated.
