Bilateral injection fear
I (20m) just scheduled my first cortisone injection for both SI joints. I've had a steroid shot before in my wrist and it was 10/10 most amazing thing I've ever done, the procedure itself was scary and I was sore after but woke up feeling like a new person the next day. But everything I hear about SI joint injections is the opposite...
I've been experiencing back pain for a while now and have been in and out of PT for years. I finally saw a specialist after experiencing the most debilitating pain of my life and being unable to stand for a few days, got an MRI and it found a "tiny"(as used by doctor) central bulge in my L5-S1 but during her physical exam said she felt inflammation over both joints. I am hypermobile(suspected heds) so she told me they're likely irritated and best route are the injections.
I am terrified it's going to make it worse after what I've read. My pain has come down a lot from when I was unable to stand but definitely still there. The procedure itself sounds terrifying and I hoping I can get some form of sedation but now I'm also scared that I'm only going to make things worse if I do this and I should just deal with the pain I have now ..
