How to get credit towards Operations Campaigns?

Obviously no one joins the Operations from the main page anymore, so you are limited to the server browser.

My question is, I didn't seem to get any credit towards the campaign after playing some of Red Tide. Do you have to play a whole Operation? Or does the server browser games not count towards the campaign?

Thanks in advance.
