Cry, Or Better Yet, Beg is actually pretty good, the hate seems so forced

Actually, I would argue that the strong reactions are proof enough that the story is compelling. I know I am preaching to the choir here, but I fail to see why people let their hatred of the MMC cloud their judgment on the entire work. Yes, he is awful. Yes, he cheats on his fiancé. Yes, the FMC is coerced into sleeping with him. Yes, she is imperfect and admits her love to him by the end.

But the mythology of the whole story is still pretty damn captivating. The MMC is beautiful and threatening. The domain he owns is beautiful. Side characters like Kyle and especially Claudine are very interesting. Classism is described with such beautiful brutality.

It’s not the best story ever told, but I like it. Not everything needs to be sunshine and rainbows.
