My current (very very) long term project: turning a thought experiment into an actual project.

I have decided to Tunisian crochet the entire source code for DOOM (1993). Normally the expression is centered around knitting DOOM but Tunisian crochet does have a knit stitch and a purl stitch, so it works just as well (also I can’t knit).
Tunisian crocheting DOOM is also tricky because it’s actually two separate projects in one.
Project 1: write the source code and break it into chunks for each row. I chose 40 bits/digits per row.
Project 2: actually crocheting. As you can probably tell from my notes, I’m alternating rows using purl stitches and simple stitches, where 0’s are purls/simple stitches and 1’s are knit stitches. Part of the reason for that is because there are almost 30 rows of just 0’s just within the first few pages of the pattern (and more that I can see looking ahead) and I value my sanity.

For reference, the length of the code on my Mac is 61 pages long. However, because I apparently like challenging myself I am copying the code from my phone, which is about 2.5 times skinnier than my Mac. Part of this is because of portability, and part of it is because unlike the inspiration for this project, who was knitting a blanket (shoutout to Knitting Doom on tumblr who asked the initial question and the user DavidN on doomworld.com who provided the doom source code, y’all rock), I am planning to make this a (very long) scarf, which is obviously not as wide as a blanket.
