I feel like I'm living in a horror movie.
I hate this planet. I hate this universe. How does no one see how insane it all is? We are here by random chance. We are just a bunch of molecules that became aware of themselves. We are all victims of nature.
ESPECIALLY non-human animals. They don't deserve this. We are not obligated by the cosmos to eat meat. Sometimes I look around and I am horrified by what I see. Flesh eating flesh. And for what?! We survive just to survive the next day until eventually we die.
But that's besides the point. We don't have to eat meat to survive. There's so much rich and nutritious plant food that could sustain us. We as humans believe ourselves to be highly rational animals, but it seems we cannot overcome our basic instincts.
I just feel like I'm going crazy. Non vegans love to talk about how "it's natural" and how we are "omnivores." But nature isn't nice. Nature is violent and indifferent. Life and nature aren't some sacred mystical thing, they're just a complex chemical process. A process that can FEEL and SUFFER. And that should terrify us. It terrifies me.
Here's a quote from Arthur Schopenhauer that I remember most days: “However, an optimist tells me to open my eyes and look at the world and see how beautiful it is in the sunshine, with its mountains, valleys, rivers, plants, animals, and so on. But is the world, then, a peep-show? These things are certainly beautiful to behold, but to be them is something quite different.”
