Replace the capacitor or replace the entire combo meter on my gen 2?

Discussion

My 2008 Prius lost its dashboard lights a few times over the last couple weeks, so I'm assuming the capacitor in my combination meter is on its way out. I'm handy but I've never soldered before. I would need a soldering iron, capacitors, something called flux, practice parts, plus the time investment... and then I saw I could get a rebuilt combo meter for $150 from Texas Hybrids. Has anyone else bought from them? Or, have you learned to solder just for this one repair? Am I crazy to be considering either of these options, and I should just bite it and pay the mechanic?
