In 1996, a Supposed ONI Officer Gave the Creators of Dark Skies a Mysterious Formula. They’re Revealing It Thursday.
In 1996, Dark Skies creators Bryce Zabel and Brent Friedman say a mysterious man showed up at their NBC premiere party, introduced himself only as “JC,” and claimed to be from the Office of Naval Intelligence. According to Bryce and Brent, JC said Dark Skies had gotten a surprising amount right and proposed feeding them information that could be incorporated into the show as a form of slow disclosure. Before leaving, JC asked for paper. JC spent about 30 seconds drawing something on a bank envelope. He reportedly called it “sound, light and frequency” and suggested they keep it somewhere safe because it might make sense 10 to 15 years later.
They kept it for the next 30 years. Zabel and Friedman named their podcast after it and describe it as less of a mathematical equation and more of a strange drawing containing symbols. They have recently been showing it privately to researchers and collecting interpretations. On September 17 at 9AM ET, they are finally releasing the original drawing publicly and presenting what they have learned about it. (Sound, Light & Frequency)
First, this becoming a very familiar pattern… UFO information has repeatedly traveled through (sometimes anonymous) intelligence, military, government, or aerospace connected individuals who privately select civilians and tell them extraordinary things that cannot independently be verified.
• Diana Pasulka : Tim Taylor
• Chris Bledsoe : Tim Taylor/ other government contacts
• Eric Weinstein, Sam Harris, Scott Wolter : alleged government insiders
• Perry Stone/ other pastors : alleged government insiders
• James Fox : intelligence and government sources
• Paul Bennewitz : Richard Doty / AFOSI
There are probably more I am forgetting. To be clear, I’m not suggesting these instances are connected, it just seems to be a pattern I have noticed.
Anyway, the big question is whether there is actually anything remarkable in the formula. Does it contain specific information that would have been unusual or unknown in 1996, or is it vague enough that later discoveries can be retrofitted onto it?
I think the other interesting question is who was JC? I couldn’t find much information about JC, let alone any verification that he actually worked for ONI. Interestingly, ONI later became heavily involved in the modern government UAP story. Jay Stratton was an ONI senior executive and eventually led the UAP Task Force, while Deputy Director of Naval Intelligence Scott Bray oversaw that effort and later testified publicly about UAP. Gary Ramsey and Michael Greene are also specifically listed as ONI personnel in an early AATIP related document. Luis Elizondo worked closely with this group, although he was USDI, not ONI. That does not validate JC’s story, but it makes his claimed affiliation interesting in hindsight.
Was JC really ONI? Was he someone with an intelligence background acting on his own? Was he just another credulous, but credentialed government employee? Was he someone connected to the show’s production team playing an elaborate prank or publicity stunt? Or was he something else? I am looking forward to seeing this formula, but more so interested in discussion about who this mysterious character “JC” was.
