Traveling for work when you have kids

Husband's contract job is coming to an end. He is waiting for a written offer on a new job that was just soft offered to him. He really wants the experience this job is offering and the pay is comparable to what he was making before. The trouble is in the soft offer they mentioned much more planned travel than previously discussed in interviews. Husband already has a side job that takes him out of town one weekend a month. I also work a full time job. We have both young children and pets and only can get help if we pay for it as we have no family close by. If he's gone 7 days each month between these two jobs, that's 3 months out of the year he's away from me and the kids.

Moms who have a partner who travels, how do you do it? I really am trying to focus on solving the problem in front of me -- but I am really hurt by this. His whole plan was I would just assume the slack. How, logistically, do you do manage... And not get resentful?
