Was Mark about to end his relationship with Eve in the S4 finale?

I’ve been thinking a lot about that conversation between Mark and Eve in the season 4 finale. Did anyone else get the impression that Mark was genuinely considering ending their relationship? Obviously he’s starting to believe that being with him puts Eve in danger, and that if he really loves her, maybe he should let her go.

It also ties in with his convo with Eve’s father earlier in the season. He basically tells Mark that Eve has almost died because of him, and I wonder if that has been weighing on him. Of course, Eve’s response in the finale challenges that way of thinking. She knows the risks and is still choosing to be with him.

I’m curious whether this is setting up some conflict between them going forward. Mark may think he’s protecting Eve, while she could see his behaviour as taking her agency away.
