Emergency Boot when updating, every time now.

Two times now I've updated and have had to revert to a snapshot because anytime I try to update I get put into an emergency boot. What can I do? I have space on the drive, it just tells me root account locked and every time I reboot I get booted into emergency mode and forced to snapshot.
