Dangers of following internet and YouTube gurus

General Discussion

A guru disciple relationship is something which is intensely personal by design or nature.

If you can't reach out to your guru directly about the problems you are facing, it really defeats the purpose.

I can understand doing nama japa on your own of namaskrata mantras.

But please don't do elaborate sadhanas from YouTube.

The sadhana may be 100% correct but you might misinterpret or bend rules unknowingly.

This might have repercussions. Tantra might seem exotic, or really fanciful but things might not always be forgiving if you don't follow the rules.

It is hard to find gurus in the real world and there's a real shortage of genuine gurus and that's exactly what makes it so lucrative to leverage social media for their own personal gains.

Would still recommend going to teertha sthals, shaktipeethas, jyotirlingas and searching for genuine, upright sadhaks who don't care for fame, or money, or material things obsessively.

TLDR : A dialogue between a guru and a disciple is meant to be two way which seems to be near impossible when dealing with public figures with YouTube channels.
