What order to do the Edge of Fate side quests in?

I've been working through the campaigns with a friend of mine who hasn't played since before Witch Queen, and we'll be starting Edge of Fate soon. When I played it at release, I must have done the side quests wrong or something because there were so many times where, for example, Ikora would finally come around to trusting Lodi, but then I'd do a side quest after it that I guess takes place before the main mission because in that side quest she'd still be mistrustful of him, things like that.

Overall I came out of the campaign really confused because of all that back and forth and I don't want my friend to have the same experience, especially when people laud Edge of Fate for its storytelling.

Any suggestions? Did anyone else have a similar experience? It's especially weird for me because I keep up with all the lore, watch all the Byf videos, and am just generally pretty decently well-versed in Destiny's story and lore, and yet, outside of the broad strokes, Edge of Fate really left me more confused than anything else.
