Why is stick deodorant >90% of the non-propellant type deodorant in the US?

I’m not from here but live here and have nobody to ask. I’ve tried it on and off for years and there’s no way for me to understand why it is liked? It leaves residue that you need to scrub numerous times to completely remove. I also feel like any fragment of residue left behind becomes a new bacterial colony feeding ground?

with roll on it’s fresh, liquid based, rinses off. It has the pros of spray deo without briefly lowering the air quality around you.
