How popular is The Simpsons where you live?

I'm from the UK, where The Simpsons is still quite well-known and relevant. However, I currently live and work in Japan, teaching at a junior high school.

I recently used the Simpsons family as an example in one of my lessons. When I asked my first-year students (aged 12–13) if they knew what The Simpsons was, I was met with a collective look of confusion. However, when I showed them a photo of the family, the majority recognised them.

I asked if they watched the show, to which they answered, "No." They only knew of them because of the Fortnite collaboration! The teachers, however, were aware of the show and had seen clips before.

So, out of curiosity, how popular is The Simpsons where you live? And with who?
