dealing with shame after tawbah

Support/Advice

Assalamu alaykum,

i’ve been feeling pretty shameful from a terrible sin i committed about a year ago on and off. at this point of time i was very disconnected with Islam and my Iman was low. but this sin in particular was done online with someone that goes against my values/morals per my ethnicity. I fell into this unfortunately and was not thinking about the consequences it would have on my spirituality and heart. this sin was done privately and nothing physical happened since it was over online.. anyway, i officially fully stopped and cut contact with said person and tried to move on. I repented for my sins with sincerity and have since been trying to move along as much as I can.

the troubling part is that i’ve met a good muslim man that wants to seek me out for marriage. I do care for him deeply and I would say I do love him. I’ve truly changed for the better since the sin. Yet, i’m in a state of feeling so guilty and shameful. It hurts that if he knew about the sin, he would despise me for it and i can’t blame it.. i hate myself for it. im ngl you guys would probably hate me too😭. this behavior was not like me to do this. He praises me so much for the woman i am, but i feel so deceptive. I know i shouldn’t confess my sins, but I also feel like I should end things. I care for him so much that i think he would deserve better. I’m not sure what to do.. would the right thing be to just cut it off?
