day 2 CFE - Assurance role

I hope this helps:

  1. MA - kpi - discuss the values and i think you needed you recalculate the ratios

  2. MA - calculate the operating income for the 4 divisions of the kamloop golf course
    Provide insight into the result

3 ) calculate the fee that shg should charge the hospital for them to do their fundraiser event using the fair value , all in , and variable cost, make a recommendation which one to charge
144 tickets, and hospital planned to charge $250 per ticket

  1. fr - treatment for membership fees, jan 1 2025 received 20k per membership and then 6k is due on every jan 1 for the following 9 years,350 people signed up for it
Needed to calculate the balance of the contract asset and contract liability and how to subsequently recognize revenue over the period

  2. lawsuits- city of prince george had evidence that the pesticide levels in the run off were above regulations, filed a lawsuit in dec 2025 for clean up costs, experts estimated a range, shg had their own lawyers look into it and they determined that shg was liable and estimated clean up cost ist $670k, no provision etc was recorded

  3. fr - vacant land, land was originally purchased and currently carried in PPE, but plans for expansion were abandoned and now shg is hilding on to it until property prices are increasing, as they are currently too low. There are prelim discussions with a builder who approached and said they they can sell the property if split up in parcels and cleaning up over the next 10 years. Controller(paul or whatever his role was) wasn’t sure whether this is still ppe or should be recorded as investment property.
Shg incurred $23k in cost for clearing the land in 2025 that was expensed to repairs and more expenses will be incurred in 2026,
The original purchase price i believe was $790k or 970k somthing like that , and the current fair value is …~1.6. 1.7 m? Or so

  4. shg ordered merchandise from pmi golfshirts and stuff, was all split out in quantity and individual price, total cost $40,800 i believe.
    ** merchandise had embroidery
40% of the order was finished and about to be shipped on dec 20. Shg advised them to hold the merchandise until just before the golf season starts. The controller wants to know whether they can record the 40% already as inventory as per dec 31
In exchange for the merchandise shg is going to give 4 golf carts as payment with carrying value of $40k, fair value was $8750 per cart. the golf carts were picked up on Dec 22 2025, and the merchandise is expected to be delivered at end of march 2026
Golf season is apr1 to October 1 i believe

  5. i believe was procdures to perform on the compliance of pesticide suppliers who would be assessed in the RFP process to be added as a approved vendor. There were 5 compliance requirements stated.

  6. is procedures for the fr issues for sure

(10) 11) 12) might be jumbled but the topic are correct)

  1. assist with determining if there is potential fraud in the restaurant - provide procedures that can help to find if there are any indications of fraud

  2. WIR in operations for the merchandise store

  3. consulting company blue is providing internal audit services- cfo or whoever wants to know if the external auditor may be able to use the work of the internal auditor and make recommendations so that it can be done in the future

  4. was that areas from the BOd were pointed out, you were to assess what current risks are there and assess the risks using the probability and impact of the potential risk. The areas given were client surveys, the process to add vendors to the approved vendor list, vendors would be added by either the department or the specific person who needs the vendor, example was the green keeper being responsible for adding vendors for lawn care chemicals etc; and membership billings - members are billed on a monthly basis for their membership, merch purchases and food and beverage charges and their credit cards on file would be used
