So I’ve been selling on Poshmark for about 13 years. I’m not new to the reselling game. I started selling on Depop to move some stuff that’s been sitting on Posh for a while due to high fees and shipping.

WELL. I recently sold my almost perfect condition Dooney and Bourke Disney tote bag for about $140 on Depop. A day after they received it, they claimed it is counterfeit. That her daughter “knew right away it was fake.” It is not counterfeit. Depop asked me to provide receipts or an authenticity card. Even though I purchased this bag in 2015 or 2016, I keep tags and/or receipts for big purchases.

I provided them with the authenticity tag that lists the bag description, item number, and style number. I even had the original UPC tag, though besides the D&B logo, there isn’t any identifying information on that specific tag.

Depop sided with the buyer today. The seller has over a week to return it. I’m not naive. I’m sure this is a scam and I will most likely receive a different item or an old or damaged version of my bag.

I’ve emailed back asking to be escalated to a supervisor and to appeal the decision. Has anyone had any luck appealing a decision? Or if what I suspect will happen, happens, can I open up a new case? I haven’t seen many good things about Depop since researching. I supposed this is on me then for not doing my due diligence before trusting a seemingly unmoderated app with my belongings.

I’m absolutely fuming over this.
