Advice for a first time mom to be 🤍

Need Advice

I just found out today! My boyfriend and I are BEYOND excited. The one thing I am anxious about is my health insurance (USA). I’m 1099, so I don’t have employer provided health insurance, and I make just enough to not qualify for government assistance. My current health coverage does NOT include anything pregnancy related, but, if I notify my health insurance, through the same company, my premiums would go from $260/mo to almost $900/mo. With a $5,000 deductible still, 80/20 after insurance kicks in. It sucks lol. I’m wondering if it’s more affordable to just cancel my health insurance altogether, and go to a health clinic with OB services on a sliding/income base scale (we do have a couple clinics in our area that operate like that). Then, take the bill(s) incurred at the hospital during L&D, and go on a payment arrangement for that.

Has anyone been in a similar boat, and what did you do? Was there anything you would’ve done differently? Really any advice would be helpful. Thank you all 🤍
