This medication saved my life 🪷
I started Bupropion/Wellbutrin a few years ago after years of Lexapro and it literally saved my life.
I started Lexapro at 17 when I fell into a major depression which then became chronic depression. I still had thoughts of taking my own life, felt as though I couldn’t withstand the trials and tribulations of life like everyone else did — I barely had energy to exist, let alone try to do something more than survive. My quality of life was so poor, I honestly questioned my existence every single day.
One day, my new physician recommended Wellbutrin, and I owe this woman (and this medication) my life. It made me feel like a fully capable human again. It has helped me regain my clarity, emotional stability, and motivation, allowing me to be who I was before depression. I went from struggling with mornings and daily tasks to achieving a degree, showing up for my family & friends, building an ambitious career, exploring hobbies, traveling, and purchasing a home and two cars independently. I still experience a full range of emotions; laughter, tears, and everything in between. Having faced numerous challenges in my life, especially in recent years, I now feel confident that I will always find a way to navigate through difficulties.
Also, keep in mind that if you feel you no longer need your antidepressants, it may simply indicate that the treatment is working effectively. It’s important not to rely solely on that feeling, consult with your healthcare provider before making any changes. I fell for this twice and almost lost my battle to mental health both times. I don’t love the idea of relying on pills for the rest of my life, but I’ve come to accept that there may not be a “rest of my life” without them.
If you are trying this for the first time, please give it some time to see results. While the general recommendation is around three months, in my experience, it took about six months to notice a genuine difference.
