Moving to London from Toronto
39F, moving to London from Toronto. I have fairly comfortable life here but need to be closer to family and decided to make the move. I have a job lined up with my current company. I work in advertising as a senior project manager and London pays are not great in my industry comparing to other industries. My current salaryI equivalent to £56K. Unfortunately they might offer me £60 since I requested this move, there isn't much negotiation room.
I still don't know my salary. I am planning to rent a room in zone 3 through a friend for about 3-4 months to save some money.
I am assuming they would offer £60K based on salaries on glassdoor. Is it realistic to find £1500&£1600 1 bedrooms in zone 3&4 or 5? My office is at Bankside. Everyone says I need £2000. I don't think it would be safe to give that much to rent.
I will have to commute to the office 3 times a week. I am okay to commute around 45mins.
Would appreciate if you could list out the neighbourhoods that I should check. I have been researching on right move. I see decent places for 1600-1700 but can't really tell if the areas are safe.
Thanks for reading my message.
