How do we stop misogyny and misandry?
There's a fine line difference between feminism in text, feminism in practice and feminism that is preached online. If you check out gender equality index only 14 countries hv equal rights for women and everywhere else ( yeah literally everywhere else there is misogyny and patriarchy). There r women in Afghanistan who aren't getting anything ( you already know that) and infact india itself is 71 points in gender equality and ranked to be one of the most unsafe countries for women. Yk the no of rape cases and our patriarchal traditions, safety concerns, etc. This is the feminism that is needed. This is what most activists preach. And those feminists also preach equal rights for both men n women.
Now let us talk about feminism that is practiced online. In online, actually there's two sides - 1. Misogyny by famous creators like Andrew tate or the manosphere. 2. Misandry sold under soft feminism by creators like liz ( wizardliz ig? I don't know her full id). These creators are creating two waves of misogyny and misandry that reduces women to objects ( as in case of Andrew tate ) and promoting sex, drugs, cheating in the name of 'empowered women' in movies like four more shots etc
If you actually think about it- who's benefitting from this content. No fucking one. Who's consuming this content? Ones who aren't affected by patriarchy or misandry in everyday life. Yes, and r they advocating for the ones who need it? No!!! These andrew tate fans make fun of ppl dying of cancer, say they should hold a woman by her nipples and what not and disregard male SA victims and those women who preach misandry content? They r the ones who use patriarchy both as a reason as well as a shield. 'bare minimum', 'he should pay', 'my boyfriend bought me this'.
You see this is what is happening. After consuming content from manosphere as well as popular so called feminist creators, I came to this conclusion. So yeah how do we solve ts?
The point is gender neutral laws and preaching and egalitarian society. I m against both male privilege and female privilege and i support a society where nobody gives a fuck about the 'gender'. I believe in societies where equality is achieved, female privilege shouldn't exist. And in societies still fighting, a wave of radical feminism is needed and equal laws and once they're made. THEY SHOULD BE PRACTICED PROPERLY!!! Indian judiciary is a joke honestly.
But yeah what are your opinions on this? Let's talk about solutions regarding -
-
What r the content fed to young boys and young girls on popular sites like instagram?
-
What are the issues that women actually face that limits them? ( Imo it's patrilocality, patrilineality and rape culture that is normalized heavily)
-
What are the issues that men face ? ( I m a woman but as much as ik it's the double standards, two edged laws that hv loopholes exploited by greedy women)
-
How do we stop that?
Let's hv a discussion regarding that.
